Closing argument

Facing five years in jail, a sober dad stands before a judge and gets something much longer-lasting

I was the fourth of five children, with a practicing alcoholic father and a mother who retreated to her room in an effort to hide from the troubles in our family.

We had so much alcohol in our house. It’s no wonder that I started drinking regularly at a young age. My parents divorced when I was 16 and I ended up living on the streets.
