<emphasis type="italic">An Interview with Elaine Johnson, Ph.D.</emphasis> Class A (nonalcoholic) Trustee on the AA General Service Board, US/Canada

Dr. Elaine Johnson served as acting administrator of the Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Mental Health Administration (ADAMHA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for two and a half years. In 1988, she was appointed director of the Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (OSAP)/Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), with primary responsibility for administration of the nation's alcohol and drug abuse prevention programs and activities (1988-1996). Prior to becoming director of CSAP, Dr. Johnson served as deputy director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
