Cigarettes are addictive. So is coffee. So are gambling, ice cream, and TV. The whole life-style of twentieth-century Americans seems to be steeped in addictiveness. A lot of us recovering alcoholics hang on to our other addictions long after we've managed, through AA, to come to terms with our addiction to alcohol. For some of us, however, awareness of our other harmful dependencies surfaces during our Fourth Step inventories, and we seek God's help in getting rid of them.
