RARE is the group that does not receive a call, now and then, from a frantic wife, mother, or someone else closely related to the alcoholic who is still drinking and suffering. . .and who refuses help. How best to handle these calls, in a way that leaves the door to AA open, whenever the sufferer is ready to call it quits? Here is a letter used by the Bristol, Tennessee group in answering "third party" calls:
