Three Q's to Mind
THE alcoholic beaten to his knees usually has enough sense left to know full well his style of living cannot go on. He is merely killing himself and no good purpose is being served in that. His problem is to use that remnant of common sense to the best advantage. When all were young, we were forced to learn the three R's and if the alcoholic enters that ancient and venerable College of AA, a study of the three Q's mentioned above should be an essential part of his future there. We will assume the towel to have been thrown in and a start made with sobriety. This is a simple problem if the alcoholic has made up his mind honestly and sincerely, to have a real go at it; his problem will always remain simple. But for the alcoholic who retains any sort of qualification whatsoever in his mind the problem remains complex and in many cases insoluble.
