No matter how long we're sober we need to remember these basic tools

EARLY UPON my entry into Alcoholics Anonymous, I was introduced, by some kind members of the Fellowship, to the saying "H-A-L-T." It was explained that the four-letter word conveyed a message: "Don't become too Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired." I'm not sure how long I had been abstaining from alcohol, but I remember my amazement at how brilliant the use of the word was and how simple it would be to bring it into my life to aid sobriety.
