We Don't Bump Noses Anymore

Toward the end of my drinking, I had managed to alienate everyone, but particularly my daughter. Unsure of how to handle the many incidents brought on by my off-the-wall emotional outbursts, other members of my family had gradually withdrawn. When suppertime became an almost daily battleground, my husband jumped at the chance to work a steady four-to-twelve shift, and my son did a complete disappearing act by joining the service. With no place to go, however, my daughter ended up taking the brunt of my alcoholism.
