The Sound of the "I

Around our tables during a closed meeting at Christmas, the discussion was on gratitude. Jim C. (with almost one year!) stated his gratitude was in the ability to discuss a problem that was bothering his sobriety and receive many forms of the solution. He had been told to "stick with the winners"--those AAs who might have the same problems he had but who took action on them. He never heard continual whining from them. With twenty-one years (one day at a time through my Higher Power's gift), I took a quick inventory of myself. What did they hear from me? A thought ran through my mind that I always want to stay with me. The difference between a WINNER and a WHINER is the sound of the "I"!
