A Bedtime Story

Firsts in Sobriety

When I was drinking, I just passed out wherever I was with whatever I had on. Then I got sober and actually started getting ready for bed. It was a small miracle to wash my face, brush my teeth, put on a nightgown, and slip into bed after saying my prayers. Alcoholics Anonymous taught me to do this, one of the most basic of human activities. And I'm still doing it, twenty-five years later.
