AA Grapevine Readers Respond to "Singleness of Purpose--what Are AAs Saying Today?" Featured in the May 2004 Issue

I am a twenty-one-year-old male, who has been destroying himself with drugs and alcohol since the age of thirteen or fourteen. I went to my first rehab and AA when I was seventeen. Four years later, I had had enough and decided to go back to AA. After a few weeks, I started to feel guilty about going to the meetings. I do have an alcohol problem, but my priority while out there was drugs. But I continued to go to AA, still bothered by the fact that I had concentrated on drugs, drinking when that was the only thing available.
