Open to Interpretation

My experiences in AA have been very contradictory and confusing. I came to AA just before my fourteenth birthday, and in a couple of months I'll be twenty-one. In these years of sobriety, I've gained a great deal of serenity and peace of mind, lived sober through high school and three years of college, participated in meetings and even started a few, done a great deal of service work, gradually practiced AA's principles in my life, spent many nights reading and pondering and talking about AA literature, and for all my efforts, I've been granted the beautiful and wondrous gifts of sobriety and fellowship. One could say that AA has worked in my life. I live a spiritual life, based on the principle that there is some order in the world, and I'm not the cause or controller of it. I am granted the grand humility of one human life to live fully and well.
