Just four months

While vacationing in the Bahamas, a newcomer reaches a milestone

Early sobriety is never easy, but spending it in a tropical paradise surrounded by beautiful sunset-colored drinks makes the experience seem much more difficult. Every year for the past six years, my family and I have spent our vacation in the Bahamas, on Paradise Island. I used to spend my days on the beach, drinking from arrival to departure. Who could resist those amazing fresh fruits blended with the alcohol that made all your troubles melt away as you basked in the Bahamian sunshine? My sobriety was going well so far. I found out where the AA meetings were in Nassau, I was taking my Big Book and some AA talks I had downloaded onto my MP3 player and I could text internationally. But I was arriving in Nassau with only 118 days of sobriety and I knew this trip was going to be a challenge.
