A.A. Street

Montgomery, Ala., Advertiser: "In a grand gesture New York City changed the name of Sixth Avenue to Avenue of the Americas. The President of Chile came up for the formalities, and numerous other dignitaries were on hand. . . . People used to referring to Sixt' Avenya will not welcome so long a name for the old street. . . . Maybe it will come to be know as A.A. Avenue. . . . A.A. is generally associated with the organization called Alcoholics Anonymous, but it might easily become the popular name for the Avenue of the Americas."
