A.A.'s Country-wide News Circuit
Mississippi, one of the three "dry" states, has been going through a stormy session of the state legislature because of a bill which will legalize the sale of liquor. One state senator, a temperance leader, has prescribed for "drunks" a sentence in the state penitentiary including the use of the whipping post four times a day as a reward for the crime of drunkenness. It is reported that the press and intelligent citizens of Mississippi took the senator strongly to task for such an expression. A.A. took no part in the controversy but could not fail to note some of the fine things said about that organization by friends and the public press.
