Mail Call for A.A.s at Home and Abroad

I AM wondering about the man who got well in A.A. and now has years of sobriety behind him. He is past his constant active 12th Step work and there seems to be no vital need for his services. So his attendance at meetings becomes less and less. When he occasionally attends a meeting he feels a vague wish to be of service. Is his race run and should he be put out to pasture? My suggestion is that older members get together once in a while. Short talks would highlight the essentials and the newcomer would always be welcome. Personal drinking histories would be omitted. The meeting would simply be a get-together. Of course a person doesn't like to experiment too much with something which has worked so well in the past, but the older member gets a little lazy. This question doesn't have to be solved today or even a year or two from now, but it is something to chew over and isn't it nice to start worrying about the poor guy who has been dry for a long time?
