Twenty Ways to a Slip
A.A. in Reverse--
- Seldom, if ever, go to a group meeting or a regular meeting.
- If you do attend, find fault with the work of the men who are conducting the meeting.
- Never accept an assignment--it is easier to criticize than to do things.
- If asked by the chairman to give your opinion regarding some matter pertaining to A.A., tell him you have nothing to say, but always say plenty after the meeting.
- Do nothing more than is necessary, but when other members roll up their sleeves and give willingly and unselfishly of their time to help matters along, howl that the group is run by a clique.
- Squawk about the board of directors, but never allow yourself to be nominated for one of these jobs.
- When a banquet is given, tell everybody money is being wasted on blowouts which make a big noise and accomplish nothing.
- When banquets are not given, say that the group or club is dead and needs a can tied to it.
- Don't tell the group how it can help you, but if it does not help you--resign.
- If you receive help without joining, don't think of joining.
- If the group calls attention to abuses of your own, get mad and resign.
- Keep your eyes open for something wrong and when you find it--yell your head off.
- At every opportunity threaten to quit and get your friends to quit with you.
- When you vote on any question, vote to do something--then go home and do the opposite.
- Agree with everything said at a meeting--then disagree with it outside.
- When asked for information--don't give it.
- Cuss the local group and the National Headquarters for incompleteness of information.
- Take all the A.A. Program gives--but don't give it anything but hell.
- Kick about the weekly donation you make--even though you have spent 52 times that amount on one drinking bout.
- After you have been sober over a period of time--through the Grace of God and the teachings of A.A., tell everybody you don't need the group or club any more--and that you are now ready to go it alone.
