RECENTLY I spoke at New York University on alcoholism. When I had finished my talk, I was asked several questions and was managing quite well until a student carefully phrased one for me: "You said an alcoholic often neglects his family. He makes his friends unhappy. It affects his work and his health and all those other things you mentioned. Well, isn't that all just like love?"
