TO you husbands of wives who are alcoholics; to you wives whose husbands are alcoholics; to you mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers: If the person in whom you are interested is honestly and sincerely making an effort to do something about their drinking problem, then in the name of all that's holy, bear with them. The Big Book tells you, if you will read it, that if your wife or son or husband or daughter slips and drinks again, do not be discouraged. There are not many, comparatively speaking, who grasp this Program without trouble. If that person, that loved one, had a tubercular relapse, would you shut the door in his face and walk off and leave him--alone and lonely and afraid? Remember that alcoholism, too, is a disease.
