IT has been suggested that the restless, mature AA should make some other thoroughly worthwhile activity his chief outlet. I rather feel that if an "old-timer" is sufficiently grateful to AA for his recovery, no matter how restless or mature he becomes, he will always keep AA as his chief outlet. I know that the 12th Step suggests that we practice these principles in all our affairs and I also know that the world is in a mess, with many pressing problems besides alcoholism. However, it seems to me that, with at least two million persons in the United States alone needing help, there is plenty of work left to keep AAs, including the "old-timers," busy for the rest of their lives. We know that only the surface of the problem has been scratched.
