AA Midwest

As I understand the AA Serenity Prayer, I say "Dear God" because God as I see him is very near and dear to my heart; "grant me". . .I do believe God can and will grant us anything which he sees we do need, regardless of what it may be or what channels he uses to give it to us; "the serenity". . .I do believe in praying thus for the serenity, if we pray in a true sense of humbleness to God the Father, as we each individually understand him, he will provide us with the serenity; "to accept things". . .regardless of what they may be. . ."that I cannot change," "courage". . .and we alcoholics know only too well, after years of dodging reality, that courage means an awful lot to us. I believe God can and will, if we pray thus to him, grant us the courage, as much as we really need of it, to change things, any things, whatever they may be, if we pray thus to him in true humbleness for his help and inspiration to encourage to change "the things we can" and believe, in all sincerity, then let it go at that. If we pray to God and believe him to be the true giver of all things, and ask that his will be done. . .not ours, then believe that he can and will grant us all the wisdom we need "to know the difference" between the good and true on one hand and the false on the other.
