Woman of Distinction

IN MY elbow bending days, I used to be a great girl for equality of the sexes, except when it came to buying the next round. A lot of people, however, didn't see eye to eye with me. Among them, I used to note with extreme pain the obvious presence of a certain whisky manufacturer. Men of Distinction had their favorite brand. Assorted gents used to have their photographs taken to prove it--airplane manufacturers, movie stars, writers, photographers. All very poised, all very elegant, all wearing carnations in the suitable lapel. All discerning as all-get-out in their taste for whisky. All male.
