Sand in the Spinach

BEING sober and happy, trying to "practice these principles in all our affairs" is no guarantee that one will not find a certain amount of sand in the spinach. After all, most of us live in a less than monastic world. A world where illness, death, financial straits, and other normal difficulties can walk hand in hand with good health, birth and material prosperity. A world in which it is perfectly possible to extend the sincere hand of good fellowship and pull away a raw and bleeding stump.
