Tradition Week

Meeting Suggestions from some who observed Tradition Week last year

We welcomed the suggestion to observe the 12 Traditions during Thanksgiving Week. One of our older members undertook the job of translating the short form of the Traditions into Portuguese, then after editing and checking we typed out enough copies to be distributed to the members attending the meeting. We also wrote a short introduction to the Traditions since most of us in our rather new group were unfamiliar with the Traditions. After reading to the assembled members the introduction and the translated Traditions, we left the meeting open for debate. These turned out to be quite lively with the result that all those present felt that the meeting was most interesting and very useful in promoting better knowledge of AA. We decided, before closing the meeting, to observe Tradition Week again at Thanksgiving time and as one of our women members put it, "Let us render thanks on Thanksgiving Day, and so celebrate 365 "Thanksgiving Days" which we enjoy each year since we started on the 24 hour Program.
