AND so I went to New York. For nearly six years--since the day I found AA--I've had the desire to visit our National Service Headquarters. A lot of us found the Program as a direct result of this Service Headquarters, and most certainly most of us found AA indirectly because of it. I haven't forgotten that day when I screamed "Help" to the Service P.O. Box 459. And I haven't forgotten that from perfect strangers came back the answers to that cry. The dead end of "Alcoholic Boulevard" isn't a pleasant place to spend eternity. They knew it too, and they showed me the way out.
