Alcoholics Anonymous 50

ANONYMITY is a widely discussed topic, vital to each of us, individually, and as a group. Perhaps the first thing to be said is that our group is called "Alcoholics Anonymous." As a recent Grapevine article pointed out, "Anonymous" is half of the title. True, we are all admitted alcoholics, but to be AAs, we must remain anonymous. If we go telling all and sundry of our affiliation with Alcoholics Anonymous, we become "Alcoholics," period! There is no "Anonymous" about it if we tell everyone. That much alone, is sufficient to point out to many AAs the meaning of anonymity, and the reason for remaining anonymous. It is well, however, to discuss it further, to clear up any doubts or questions.
