I Came to Believe

and found that--"IN DEFEAT LIES VICTORY

MY first contact with AA was due to the efforts of my wife. Drinking had become a problem to my family and friends, but, as yet, was not a problem to me. The next three and one-half years followed a familiar downward pattern as I "slipped" in and out of AA. Then one day I came to the point where I had to have a drink, but knew if I did, I would get drunk again. On that shaky Sunday morning I reached the absolute and final decision that, as far as I was concerned; I could not drink. Only then, was a familiar paradox accepted by me. . .in defeat lies victory.
