"CAN you go without a drink for 24 hours?" Truly, a $64 question and directed solely at me! Residual drunken bravado prompted me to snarl, "Any damn fool can go without a drink for 24 hours!" Ah, but I could no longer speak for "any damn fool!" With sinking heart, I honestly doubted that this particular damn fool could.
