That I do not recall specifically either the questions or the answers is of little importance. What really matters is the fact that I felt in her and the program of which she is a part some vast intangible clearly indicative of successful living. Of course, if I had not already believed these AA folks had found some sort of adequate answer to what I then labeled the enigma of life, I would not have been interested in the first place. But they obviously had found something and even though I told myself I would never need their solution, I was, in my own spiritual dilemma, greatly attracted to any philosophy which apparently worked so effectively. Little did I dream, even in the wildest flights of my imagination, that less than two short years later I was to return in utter desperation to this same person in quest of whatever she, and others like her, had that I so sadly lacked.
