An Open Letter To The Doctors

Precept, Example and Tact are the three things I learned during the first six months of my association with Alcoholics Anonymous. Being dry (not sober) for two weeks I adorned the cloak of the Great Crusader and soon discovered (after making some enemies) that all who drink are not alcoholic and all who are alcoholic do not want to stop drinking. I will not, by any stretch of my imagination, try to tell a doctor what alcoholism is. Being educated beyond my intelligence is something for a guy like me to beware of; however, I can say without hesitation, that I believe alcoholism is a disease, that the alcoholic needs help and is worthy of it.
