From the Grass Roots

CAN you get too much of a good thing? Well, maybe you can at that. We alcoholics are extremists in temperament. When we drank, we drank all out. We sought the answer to everything at the bottom of the glass; but then we discovered AA (or AA discovered us) and no half way measures for us. We went at it whole hog or nothing. From where we sit we think this initial enthusiasm is all to the good. Most of us are men and women without an out. . .we have not had the time or stickativity to develop a hobby, so when we get into AA we are suddenly confronted with a great void. The hours we used to spend looking on the wine when it was red now loom up demanding to be filled.
