Some General Approaches

The "cause and cure" of alcoholism can be left to the experts; AA's job is IMMEDIATE TREATMENT

ALCOHOLISM is generally admitted nowadays to be a disease. But here is problem: if alcoholism is a disease, we are challenged to find a cure. And by a cure in the case of alcoholism we mean that the patient shall attain the ability to drink normal amounts of alcoholic beverage without entering a compulsive and uncontrollable phase. In the jargon of Alcoholics Anonymous this is called "normal" or "social" drinking.
