After Many a Checkmate
MOST of us are alcoholics because we could not get along with our environment. Instead of facing every day problems as they arose, we let them pile up until they were too numerous, then we sought "escape" through drink. And as this habit of side-stepping problems became more and more firmly implanted in our character, we were eventually relegated to that group of neurotics known as "anti-socials." The penalty for this was prison. But prison wasn't as bad as we thought it would be.
