A mother, her arms filled with groceries, got on a bus with her daughter, about five. The girl had the fare and dropped it in the fare box, then seemed to feel that a word of explanation was in order. "I'm paying the money," she told the driver in a voice clearly audible at the back of the bus, "My mother is loaded."
