Healthy Dependence

There is a story told of a big game hunter who once, traveling in some very wild country, witnessed an extraordinary scene. Lined up around a water hole were dozens of animals and birds of all descriptions. As he approached and saw creatures which would normally prey on others standing docile together, he quickly realized the grim truth that there were just a few drops of water in the hole. All had gathered in one desperate need, all other differences being forgotten. We, too, in AA find all our petty differences disappear in the search for our desperate need, sobriety.
