Homeless. . .But Happy

EIGHT years ago I first heard of AA. Since then, I have attended many meetings, and even spoken at one. But never once, during those last years, did I ever grasp even the slightest significance of what AA stood for. For those years I am grateful, rather than remorseful or sad, for without the experience and bitter disillusionment of alcoholic life during those years, I would never be humble enough to accept the station and humility of the life I now live.
