Slippery When Wet

One of the most important factors, if not the most important, for the newcomer to consider when coming in AA is patience. After studying the normal reactions of newcomers into the program, it seems that most of these men are so desperate in their enthusiasm to latch on to something as solid and promising as AA, that they try to take the program in one big gulp. Such impulsiveness is true of the alcoholic personality. The alcoholic usually took his liquor in large doses, and as fast as he could down it, so it seems only natural for him to try and take AA with the same gusto.
