Across the Editor's Desk

ONE of our faithful correspondents, who contributes items regularly with a cheerful indifference as to whether or not they ever see print, raised an interesting, if rather alarming, question the other day: what if nobody ever sent anything in to The Grapevine? Then he answered himself: the pages would be blank. (Note to our critics: no comment, please.) Isn't it, he went on, somewhat like asking: what if nobody ever went to an AA meeting? There wouldn't be any AA and very little, if any, sobriety, in his (and our) opinion.
