It Happened to Me

HAVING recently concluded a five month attempt at controlled drinking, I am back in AA. I am confused, certainly. I ask myself "Why did I leave AA?" or "how did I contrive to convince myself that maybe I wasn't an alcoholic?" etc., etc. But the answers to these questions can wait. Right now I have just one thing to do: twenty-four hours at a time I must avoid drinking and try to recapture the enthusiasm of my first AA venture, during which I stayed dry for nearly five years.
