The Misspelled Word

HANGING on the wall at our meeting place there is a board with the serenity prayer printed on it. It is very nice and was printed and donated by one of our first members. However, the word serenity is spelled "sernity". It hung there for a long, long time and no one noticed the error--until at one of our Wednesday night meetings there was a member from another group visiting with us. This member had been having a lot of trouble with the program because there were some things that had happened in the past that it was not humanly possible to change, and as he kept trying to change them he of course kept getting drunk. He had not been attending meetings with an open mind; through the speaking his mind was wandering and his eyes seemed to become fascinated with the Serenity Prayer that hung on our wall. He read it over and over many times during the meeting before he finally realized that the word serenity was misspelled and that was what was wrong.
