It may sometimes be difficult to like one's neighbor in AA. His words and works may grate on us. But it should never be too difficult for us to love, to be willing to serve or help him; for, in AA, our neighbor is part of us. And we all love ourselves to greater or less degree. If he is a sober member of our group, he is part of us because he is what we are today, and his sobriety has helped us to become what we are today. And if he has lapsed back into drink, he is still part of us; for he is what we were yesterday, and what we can become again tomorrow if we fail him in love and charity.
