I LOST MY GRIP

I have been fortunate in regaining my sobriety and a certain degree of peace of mind, since my tumble last fall. Only too well did I know why I got drunk. On the surface, certainly, there were circumstances that caused me to take that first drink but, my problem was to find out why, after many months of trying to practice the principles of AA, I allowed these circumstances to creep into my life. Oh yes, my wife's illness and the knowledge of her ultimate death were indeed contributing factors, but not wholly responsible. Those facts should have been sufficient to keep me sober.
