IT happened a long time ago by my present time-sense; and it happened to someone I no longer care to know and would, I think, scarcely recognize. But memory has eyes and ears and a sense of smell as well as an inner vision, so--although at this moment I. see this creature who was me as a dim shadow-figure--it is easy enough to evoke the sharp, pungent smell of that Mexican night.
