. . . A tremendous amount of energy goes toward rebelling against situations which we can do nothing about. "If only. . ." we say to ourselves. Were we serious about "if only" we would do something about it and not feel sorry for ourselves, for that makes an excuse to drink--so we think. If we are unhappy about our condition we should either change it or accept it. All we have to do is comprehend the AA prayer fully and we will get the serenity to conserve our emotions. No one has any energy left over from "if onlying" to do anything constructive.
