Story of a Successful Author

DURING my long years of drinking, I was always endeavoring to be something I wasn't and I inevitably ended up in very distressing circumstances sooner or later. After my arrival in AA, quite a while back, I ceased being a combination of Einstein, Ty Cobb, General Pershing and J. P. Morgan and began to be only myself--with one glaring exception: I still wanted to be a writer. This obsession continued with most gratifying results in spite of the fact that I never graduated from a school of journalism or any other school in any category. My only scholastic accomplishment was that I attended seventh grade two years and wound up a half-year behind where I started.
