Happiness Is Optional

HAD anyone told me a year ago that I could be happy today, I'd never have truly believed it. In fact, I think the thought would have disturbed me, for I was happy being unhappy! I hugged my personal tragedies, small or large, to my bosom, cherished the memories of past misfortunes, and probably relished the chance to play the "Camille bit" in dramas yet to unfold. . . .
