From the Grass Roots

I have often heard an AA say: "I am no better off now than I was when I drank." I've said it myself. I've also heard people point out that so and so is now driving a Buick, living in an expensive apartment (in the money, in other words) while the speaker and poor Joe over there who tries so hard are going about in our secondhand Ford or on shank's mare.
