I Have a Song to Sing

I AM an alcoholic, a grateful, happy drunk. I wouldn't change my disease for all of the riches of India, not even for incense and myrrh. You see, I believe that we members of AA are most miraculously blessed. In order to survive--in order to maintain a safe margin of sanity and bodily health--we must only live the rest of our days trying in all our affairs to approach a little nearer to that concept of personal fulfillment each man carries in his secret heart. What other illness demands of its victims nothing but a willing spirit to receive a fool-proof remedy? Listen, then, to why I cherish my malady.
