The Editors Desk on Vacation. . .

A VACATION is a quiet place for this communication, a place of beginnings. . .as AA calls me to start each new day, vacation or not. The Desk is not here in physical fact. . .it's a thousand leagues away somewhere in the clatter of 44th street. But it is here, too, strangely uncluttered now save for this clean white paper and the new sharpened pencil inviting to the touch.
