DISTAFF SANITY

IS THE non-alcoholic wife (or husband) more or less insane while the acute alcoholic state exists? I have only lately asked myself this question and have come to the conclusion that I was far more insane than my husband who was drinking. I admit that things my husband did were not entirely sane, but he did them usually while intoxicated, so I feel that he was only partially to blame; but the average nonalcoholic is supposed to be able to think clearly and sanely. It was not so with me! To begin with I would do things with the view of helping my husband, but I also felt compelled to do them. Help him indeed!
