Cruising With No Booze

Some Helpful Hints (My own opinion of course)

  1. If possible travel with another AA or a non-alcoholic who "understands."

  2. Bring plenty of AA literature along and read a little each day. Don't miss a day!

  3. Make up your mind to take advantage of all the shipboard activities. (The wonderful meals, deck sports, dancing, movies, horse racing). Believe me you'll have more fun than if you were sitting in the bar.

  4. There are many cocktail parties. Go to them if you wish, but don't stay too long. Always have a glass of ginger ale or a cup of coffee in your hand.

  5. People will be curious as to why you don't drink. Kid about it. Tell them you gave it a "helluva try." They'll get the point and leave you alone.

  6. If you get a severe case of "the butterflies" or a strong compulsion, don't be afraid to seek out the ship's chaplain or doctor. They'll see if another AA is aboard and if not they will be glad to help you "talk it out."
